With so many releases, and knowing that we are seeing something big every month coming from Games Workshop, we have been trying to figure out exactly how the rest of 2013 will turn out. Well, Stickmonkey has laid out what he has down as a release schedule for 2013, and it of course correlates with the Hastings line up.

Please note, that I am not doing anything for April's Fools Day. Not really appropriate for this kind of site. unless it was beyond obvious.

Please remember that these are rumors, although they are looking very good at the moment. This list is starting to make a lot of sense from previous rumors.

Of course, I am getting more than a little excited for Eldar.

May: High Elves
June: Eldar
July: Apocalypse
August: Lizardmen
September: Blood Bowl
October: Space Marines
November: Dwarves?
December: Hobbit
January: Tyranids

I had Dwarves a lot sooner than others, so its probably safe to leave a question mark.  It could possibly be brettonians or wood elves.   Im basing my prediction of Dwarves on where I recall them being design wise, which was right after lizardmen.

I've had multiple confirmations of space marines being the last 40k codex of 2013 and Tyranids being the first codex of 2014.

October is a Black Box release, blood bowl and Warhammer quest have come up, although...it could be something surprisingly different...

When Hastings weighs in, I'd go with his schedule always.

  2. I look forward to a bit of bug love but I'm wary about new models, the old tyranids are worlds away from the new(er) models, I wonder if they will change the aesthetic much or keep building o the identifiable tyranid silhouette

    1. They have so many models that need to be converted to plastic that going back through and updating existing plastic kits would be a step in the wrong direction.

  3. Anyone else sorta bummed to see fantasy in there at all? Haha Im not saying it shouldnt be,(obviously it should) but fantasy compaired with how much I love 40k just sorta bums me out. Its still a fun game to play but rarely for me because I feel like they broke the game with magic.
I guess that with all the lists we have gotten from rumor sources about the 40k schedule I had forgotten there is still that other game :)
Still a fun game, but nothing like the fun of 40k to me personally

    1. Kinda need to remember that without WFB you'd have no 40k...

    2. True on both accounts. Fantasy just isn't as fun for me as 40k. But I do still love seeing the new models and everything :-)

    3. Im happy to see both 40k and fantasy. What i could do without is LotR and hobbit stuff. But im sure there are others that feel differently.

    4. I play fantasy more than 40K tbh but that's probably because i prefer fantasy > sci-fi. Agree on the lotr/hobbit, i love the films but could do without the minis taking up valuable time/energy that could have been devoted to the 2 main systems.

  4. Taken with a grain of salt considering its April 1st. I'd rather not see a new lizardmen or tyranid list right now, and I should think they might consider doing Brettonians or Wood Elves soon.

    1. Lizardmen have been banded around as the release after High Elves since last year. GW seems to be smacking all the armies that abuse the Magic System into line then doing everyone else.

  5. Eldar in June would make me a very happy nerd.

  6. hey guys, sorry for the stupid question. what are Apocalypse and Blood Bowl?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Apocalypse is an extra rulebook that allows for massive, massive games of Warhammer 40k to be played. Tens of thousands of points, thousands of models, giant special units, etc.

Blood Bowl is another tabletop game that Games Workshop makes, its basically Football meets Warhammer Fantasy.

    Or is it real?

    1. I am not doing anything regarding April 1st fools day. Just not appropriate I thought, as it would be too easily misconstrued.

  8. Dwarves? Bret? Wood Elves?
But in the last rumours, Dwarves and Wood Elves are at the start of the playtests and Bret haven't even started...

    1. High elf rumours said all three elf books were being worked on together, so wood elves could be a good candidate.

  9. Hope we see a return to without number and the a few of the more fun creations for 4th, rather than the mess that 5th was. Also hoping for some new models: the gaunts, while still pretty good models, are from 3rd ed.

    1. The gaunt models might be old, but I still quite like them. Would love to see some special weapon options though, beyond the strangleweb (could just throw a sprue with strangleweb + any new options into the kit). Maybe also bits for the old spike rifles, hopefully with more useful rules (gaunt snipers anyone?).

    2. Right, and I still love them, too, but models themselves are starting to show their age, the options aren't there (as you mentioned), and so on.

I love the gant/gaunt models, but the fact I have to attach a 1" washer to every Hormagaunt to get it to stand up says something about the design. And if you compare it to some of the models that have come out in the last few years and all the details packed into them (think DE and even plaguebearers/nurglings) and I start to wonder what a rework would look like.

Especially since the Gant/Gaunt models are roughly tiger-sized when they should (fluff-wise) be large-dog sized.

    3. They did recut the sprues for 5th. I'd be skeptical of a redesign. Repainting 80+ of the things wouldn't be on my priority list either lol

      Delete
    4. Oh man, I wish I only had 80 of those things.

      Delete
    5. If they change around guant sprues they better make 1 pc heads, my only complaint for any of the plastic Nid kits.

  10. It's nice to see Dwarfs on there, they are so iconic for Warhammer and really need some love. They are still very playable, but as I was watching a friend paint his Ogres the other night I became sad over the lack of variety in my army.

I would prefer IG before 'nids, but that is pure self interest.

  11. I'm happy with no IG codex release for the foreseeable future, as they would horribly nerf mah beloved Vendetta anyway.

Plus half the vehicles in IG codex are still FW only: remaking Basilisk as "Artillery" multi-kit (by replacing the old-as-nails Earthshaker sprue), putting out Hydra/something else (Chimerax?) dual kit, and recutting Valkyrie so you could get Vendetta out of the box and plastic Vulture by changing a sprue, these would go a long way.

For the following codex, plastic Rough Riders would be very much wanted, and please, no moar Attilans, because Mongols IN SPAAAAAACE put the derp in grimderp. Also, plastic Ogryns that would not look as ugly as all their previous incarnations, but would more like current FB Ogres instead (well, FB Ogres + Ork guns + plasticard armour is actually a solution).

Plastic Stormtroopers would be nice, even though the current alternatives - Kasrkin, "tacticool" stormtroopers, Arbites Enforcers - are nice enough to live with.

  12. I too am very excited for eldar. As much as I want new models and updated versions of old ones it is updsted rules and points costs that interest me more.

    1. I agree. I am looking forward to the artwork and rules most of all.

However, if we are going to be seeing a large wraithguard unit, I will be preordering 3, the same goes for some flyers.

    2. I don't think that we need a pints reduction on our units. We just need the rules surrounding them to be updated and made relevant. I don't think Eldar should be able to field more folks than before. Remember, for a dying race, a resounding victory on the field of battle still feels like defeat if we dud not kill over 10 of the enemy for every 1 of our citizens that perished.

    3. Example:
Warp Spider packs- make them special again instead if a liability.
      Make holofields give Shrouded.
Acute senses for Dark Reapers? Fix that shit.
      Let swooping hawks intercept flyers.
Give Guardians plasma grenades and the ability to carry shuricannons.
Shining Spears- plasma grenades!! and Sweep Attack
These are just sensible updates. There is no need to reduce the points on our Dex.

  13. I would think the Hobbit would be the only thing on that list for certain since I cannot see them missing a big Hobbit release around the time of the second movie.

Saying that, has anyone played the Hobbit game? One of my friends was given the box set for Christmas but between 40k and DnD we have not had a chance to do anything with it.

  15. It would make sense to release Space Marines in October as that would mean they could be the big pre-release at UK Games Day in September, to drive up ticket sales and incite mass hysteria and panic buying at the event... hmm, when can you start pre-ordering Games Day tickets?

  16. Where is the Sisters of Battle update? Out of all the armies in the game they are in need of an update more than all other armies combined!

    1. sisters dont sell that much so they wont focus on them mate sorry

      Delete
    2. They don't sell because they haven't gotten and update,
but they won't update them because they don't sell...
      That's a really painful Catch 22 :(

    3. Self fulfilling prophesy is self fulfilling.
Dark Eldar and Necrons too suffered bad sales before they got updated.
